I choose this immersion blender for the fact that blade assembly is metal and not plastic. I put it right in a hot pot of soup and blend away. Another reason I liked this model so much is that the blade assembly disconnects from the motor and can be put into the dishwasher. I've been using it for a few years now and all is still well and good. I thought maybe that the point of connection might weaken over time, but that has not happened.
I'm glad I have the attachments but, honestly, they really don't get used much at my house. For me, the real value is in the immersion blender itself. This unit is strong and reliable and gets the job done with the convenience of easy clean-up.
